Ladies, how are you enjoying your summer so far? It’s been busy here thanks to having just celebrated our son’s bar mitzvah. I am now ready and super excited to take full advantage of summer’s blessings, the main one being The Beach!
Let me ask you – are you remembering to get plenty of sunlight, drink pure water and take in as much fresh air as possible? How about bathing yourself in the Divine bathwater of the sea/ocean? This is the time to saturate yourself with these elements, as you watch your energy overflow, your health improve, and your immune system work for you through the winter. No better place to get plenty of the above than at the beach!
I’ve mentioned this before but it’s worth repeating: Most people don’t realize how essential vitamin D is. It is a steroid hormone that affects basically every cell in your body and acts as a firewall against many types of cancer and other diseases such as diabetes and depression. Vitamin D drops and creams are okay but they’re no substitute for the real thing. And they certainly do not provide the mood enhancement, warmth, and good vibrations we so crave and need from the sun.
Did you know that your body is about 75% water? Your blood is 90% water. Your brain – 85% water. So, if you think about it for a minute, what problem isn’t going to be influenced by adequate hydration? Weight loss, clearing up of the complexion, spinal disc injury, kidney weakness, bladder problems, constipation, adrenal issues, and much more will all benefit tremendously from adequate hydration. Drink plenty of water and eat juicy fruit for maximum hydration.

Fresh air, as opposed to indoor air, is very healing and energizing. As you spend time outside this summer, take deep, slow breaths, hold for a few seconds, and then exhale slowly. Watch the difference in how you feel and even look!
Immersing in the ocean is extremely healing on many levels. Ocean bathing calms and sooths the nervous system. As your feet touch the ocean floor you connect to the earth’s frequency, thereby reducing electromagnetic radiation. This is important because our brains and bodies work on earth frequency. Since we usually wear shoes, we hardly ever connect to the earth, so immersing in the seawater while barefoot does the brain and body a lot of good!
I can’t exactly get to the beach every day, but I try to make it a priority as much as possible and Baruch Hashem, summertime offers other wonderful healing opportunities.

Summer for me is a time to live in the rhythm more than according to a structured schedule.
Waking up without an alarm clock.
Meditating for longer before davening.
Doing fun outdoor activities such as biking, swimming, walking, and hiking.
Eating lots of juicy fruit.
Working on feeling happier and more fulfilled.
Breaking my addictions to working, bossing my kids around and checking my phone.
Feeling that I am worthy of love, abundance, respect, and joy.
Healing myself.
Focusing on the truth that there is only One.
