In the Breslov tradition no one considered themselves as a Rebbe or Tzaddik after Rebbe Nachman, not even the great scholar and teacher Reb Noson. All the great Breslovers ran away from fame, honor and status. The damage caused by becoming arrogant and haughty is something to be feared. It is well-known from Rebbe Nachman’s teachings that with fame comes enormous tests which can even make it difficult to share genuine Breslov wisdom. One can fall into the pitfalls of being a “false leader” and lead oneself and others into spiritual descents. Humility is key.
