This week Parshah Tzav – includes the mitzvah of terumat hadeshen, and various sacrifices.

The second part discusses Moshe’s preparing Aharon for the services in the Temple.

The concept of a sacrifice offered in the Temple corresponds to our Inner Temple i.e. our minds.

Meaning, we have to at times “sacrifice” and give over to Hashem our personal desires and tendencies in order to create a sanctuary for Hashem in our minds. To purify our minds.

This also means that a person has to know how not to pass his boundaries and to learn how to manage with those limitations. This is also a sacrifice.

Regarding the concept of semikha – wresting the hands on the head of the sacrifice:

The ARI explains that this is basically transferring one’s base and animalistic desires onto the sacrifice, as if to say these have no connection to a person whatsoever.

Rebbe Nachman teaches that the sacrifices are the way into the purification of the minds.

What stops this however is the faculty of imagination.

By concentrating on the good, and not following one’s imagination – things will be good.

The concept of a sacrifice is to help us conquer the negative imagination.

Creative imagination allows us to develop good things, but it has to come out from the distorted imagination.

This is why it is so important to recite the Korban Tamid before davening properly.

May we merit to bring the Korban Pesach sacrifice with joy.
