Q: I know by Torah aleph, rebbe nachman explains that one should attach oneself to the tzaddik emet in order that the melachim cant damage ones prayer for the tzaddik loves all israel and when one is attached to all israel ones prayers cant be attacked by melachim. I was wondering if one feels a connection to a couple tzaddikim if he can say the couple names of tzaddikim before, or does this only apply to rebbe nachman?
A: The actual text of attaching oneself as said for generations of Breslov Chassidim is as follows: “I am binding myself to all true Tzaddikim in this generation and all true Tzaddikim who have departed-“the holy ones who are in the earth” and especially our holy Rebbe, Tzadik, foundation of the world, the “flowing brook, source of all wisdom,” Rebbe Nachman the son of Faige, (may his merit protect us.)
One can infer from here that it is a good thing to always attach themselves to all the Tzaddikim.
Furthermore, Rebbe Nosson describes the process of finding the true Tzadik in Likutey Halachos as one who is stuck in a desert and doesn’t know whether it is Shabbos or not. The Halacha is that he should keep Shabbos every day and may only do an amount of work/malacha in order to survive and not more. However, Kiddush should be made on the day you suspect is Shabbos.
Rebbe Nosson explains that this also true in regards to finding the true Tzadik (as Shabbos and Tzadik correspond to each other – this is a different discussion.) All Tzaddikim who go in the path of the AriZal and Ba’al Shem Tov should automatically be assumed to be true Tzaddikim. However the Tzaddik who you feel closest to – should especially be headed. One should continue along this way until he finds the true Tzaddik.

1) How did you see this from Torah aleph? Are you referring to Ashrei Temimeh Derech? I didn’t see anything about attaching to the true tzaddikim when I went through it. I was under the impression he was saying to learn Torah and be humble so that you merit the level of NaCHaT and then your tefilot will be answered. Please clarify.
Hello, the questioner means Chelek Bet – Likutey Moharan Tanyana Lesson 1.
