Ladies, the Purim-Pesach rollercoaster is coming up! No, that’s not a hint to stress about the mess. Just a heads up that a state of wellness and energy in such situations, always helps. If you start implementing the below tips right now, you will reap the benefits for the coming busy season. Ready? Let’s go!
Tip #1: Skin brushing. This takes just two minutes and does so much to combat sluggishness and system slow down. If you have a stagnant lymph system or swollen lymph nodes, dab a couple of drops of laurel essential oil on your dry brush prior to using. Otherwise, other essential oils such as lavender and grapefruit, are also a nice enhancement to skin brushing.
How to dry brush your skin: gently brush your body with a dry brush starting with your feet and moving up to your head. Always brush in the direction of the heart. You can get a skin brush at most health food and cosmetic stores as well as on Amazon.

Tip #2: Save the carbs for dinner, and limit carbs to the low glycemic ones! I know, I know, this is not going to be very popular but stick with me for a minute. The higher a food is on the glycemic index, the more tired you get after you eat it, because the greater the energy crash. So, if you want to have a lot more energy during your day, and I do mean A LOT, save the carbs for dinner. And while you’re at it, avoid refined and high glycemic carbs such as gluten, white rice, potatoes, and all refined carbs.
What does this mean practically? For breakfast have a smoothie, a salad, yogurt with berries and nuts, or eggs with avocado and tomatoes on the side. For lunch, have a green salad with a protein such as fish, chicken, eggs, or cheese. For dinner have a salad, a protein, and a healthy, low glycemic carb such as a sweet potato, quinoa, brown rice, or black beans. For snack have some almonds, bitter chocolate, apple slices or a banana.
Finishing the day with just two minutes!
Bonus: by going the extra mile and doing the above, not only will you have a ton more energy for the upcoming holiday prep and celebrations, but you are also choosing to take care of yourself, to not be a victim to circumstances and to set a good example for your family.
It is so easy for us women to neglect our self-care when times get busy. Starting or finishing the day with just two minutes of dry brushing is a wonderful way to stay in the self-care zone. By structuring the way you eat in a manner that allows for high energy levels, you are choosing to be proactive and solution-oriented. By doing the above two things , you are setting a wonderful example for your children and showing your husband that you are okay and even happy, despite the chaos.
I call that a win-win!
