It All Adds Up

Hold On! It All Adds Up
Meshivat Nefesh #39
Know that every single motion that one makes in an effort to come closer to G-d eventually adds up and comes to your aid in your moment of dire need.” In time,” said Rebbe Nachman, “Surely he will enter into the gates of holiness. Because G-d is truly merciful, and really does desire this person’s efforts.”

I need to learn how to just hold my own, not trying to rush forward for the moment, but also not giving up any gains that I’ve made. Meaning, I have to learn how to ignore all of my self-doubt and confusion, and continue to do whatever I can in my Divine service.

Sometimes, after making efforts to change and draw closer to the Creator, I can find myself feeling as though I’m being thrust back again, away from the gateway to holiness. Rebbe Nachman taught that that’s usually a sign that I’m actually close to making a breakthrough. What do I need to do, in that case?
Dear God,
Please help me to remember
that every effort that I’ve made over the years to draw close to You
Has made a real impression on high.
Even if I can’t always see progress, those motions are adding up.
They will eventually carry me through my most difficult challenge
and bring me right to You.
