My dear and precious friends!
Last year at this time, I was lying in the hospital in serious condition, sick with the coronavirus. It’s difficult for me to describe in words my feelings at that time. One of the great miracles I had at that time was that the doctors – who didn’t yet have much experience with Covid-19 – didn’t check my lungs. Had they done so, they would have immediately connected me to a respirator, which at the time caused many deaths.
I remember how one day, when I could barely speak, and the Pesach campaign was already on the air, my son Zvi said to me, “Abba, we already have over $40,000!” and the next day he came to tell me that we had over $60,000. That gave me such joy, knowing that more and more tzaddikim from the Breslov community would have the wherewithal to celebrate Pesach respectably.
Our holy Rebbe teaches in Likutey Moharan I 201, that the words Tzedakah tatzil mimavet (charity saves from death) are an acronym for matzot, alluding to critical importance of giving charity for the Pesach necessities. It’s clear to me that in addition to the prayers that were offered on my behalf, and the hand-clapping and dancing which people wrote to me that they did to mitigate the harsh decrees, it was the merit of the enormous mitzvah of tzedakah that tipped the scales.
Chazal said (Sanhedrin 44), “One must always prepare prayer before the trouble.” Why should we encounter a grievous situation, chas veshalom, and then be in need of merits to be extricated from it? Let’s prepare the prayers and the salvation in advance! Baruch Hashem, I am in good health, and it’s all in your merit! Let’s perpetuate those merits without the need for too much suffering and fear of what the next day will bring.
Our goal is to reach, at least, the gematria of 1000 times “Pesach” (also the gematria of “Nachman”) — $148,000 —so that we can help as many needy Breslov families as possible for Pesach.
Join us today and gain the tremendous merit of supporting families of Breslover chassidim, and together we will shift the world to the side of special merit, to serve as protection and security for us all! Please help us as generously as you can!
This morning, I’ve left Uman, with great Heavenly mercy, and I would be very happy to continue davening for you and to recite your names also in Eretz Hakodesh.
Be strong and brave!
