For the entire year, we draw strength from the days of Chanukah to overcome all the states of darkness that we fall into!
The Midrash says that the verse from Bereshit, “With darkness on the surface of the deep,” alludes to the Greek empire. Indeed, the Greeks tried with all their strength to extinguish the light of Torah and mitzvot from among the Jewish People, to cause them to forget everything. Specifically during this dark, somber time, the light of the righteous Maccabees was revealed. That light cries out to all of us, “Just believe in Hashem and the darkness will disappear.”
Reb Noson writes in the laws of Nezikin, 5, that for the entire year, we draw strength from the days of Chanukah to overcome all the states of darkness that we fall into. Literally! When we see the light of Chanukah and believe in Hashem and His tzaddikim, that will give us strength for the year!
“Just believe in Hashem and the darkness will disappear”…
