Parshat Shemot–Let My People Go/Life’s Tests
by Meir Elkabasby Meir ElkabasThis week on BreslovCampus, Meir Elkabas discusses the Torah portion, Parshat Shemot, which with insights from Rebbe Nachman of Breslov and Reb Noson. In this parsha, Moshe Rabbeinu asks Pharoah to “Let my people go.” Instead, Pharoah hardens his heart and makes it even more difficult for the Children of Israel to leave, doubling their work and trying to crush their spirit. This was a test for Moshe from Hashem. Rebbe Nachman says these are the tests of the Tzaddikim.

Everyone struggles with making decisions. Am I doing the right thing? Will things turn out okay? While we can never know for sure what will happen in life, if we rely on the wisdom of the Tzaddikim, we can trust that we’re aligned with Hashem’s Will.
Traditionally learned during the late spring and summer, Pirkey Avot, the Teachings of the Fathers, is a classic Talmudic text, a collection of mishnayot that offer advice from the sages on how to live our lives and deal with ordinary—and not-so-ordinary—situations. The BRI Pirkey Avot combines Breslov teachings in a thoughtfully comprehensive commentary which make this classic text come to life.

This Series: Likutey Moharan is the Magnum Opus of Rebbe Nachman with a depth and breadth unlike any other work in Jewish spiritual literature. In this series, Reb Yirmy Ginsberg explores Likutey Moharan I and II in compelling yet down to earth explorations of spiritual growth in real life.
This Course: In this text-based course, Reb Yirmy Ginsberg will discuss three short lessons in Likutey Moharan Tinyana—LM II 48, 49, and 50. Although less complex on the surface than some others, these lessons go to the core of our spiritual service of Hashem. Each topic offers the opportunity for reflection on a larger theme within each lesson.
Meir Elkabas discusses this week’s Torah parsha, Parshat Vaeira. Moshe Rebbeinu did the right thing yet struggled again and again. He needed to harness the powers of his emunah, faith, in order to accept and move forward. In our own lives, we too have to have emunah as we face the hard tests each of us goes through.
