The Money-Idolatry Connection

by breslov.org

Series: Human Self-Creation and the Kabbalah of Rebbe Nachman with Mordechai Kaufman

It’s not difficult to argue that today’s materialism is out of control. We are barraged with increasingly sophisticated attempts to convince us that more is better and having the best is a necessity. There is a pervasive, even reflexive belief that we are defined by the ways in which we express and fulfill our materialistic desires. The near-Universal lust for money blocks our ability to grasp the reality of Divine Providence. This is our present-day idolatry.

As long as there is worship of money in the world, there is burning anger in the world.

But there is hope for us yet.

In Likutey Moharan 13, Rebbe Nachman challenges us to think about our relationship to money and materialism. With the development of daat, holy wisdom/awareness, we gain an authentic and life-changing knowledge that Hashem is the Source of all and we’re able to usher in the era of Moshiach; On that day man will throw off his idols of silver and his idols of gold.

Topics include:

  • The Desire for Money
  • The Pathology of Idolatry
  • Hashgacha Pratit (Divine Providence
  • Developing Daat
  • A Spiritual Action Plan
  • Your Clear and Pure Soul
  • The Connection to the Moshiach and Redemption

And more
