The notion of “the point of the friend” is that anyone is able, in his own way and according to his deeds, to receive from his friend the correct advice!
We are now launching our special study partner project: “The Point of the Friend – From One to the Other”
In Lesson 34, Rebbe Nachman discusses three central points that a person must interact with in this world in order to rectify the “breaking of the vessels” that preceded Creation.
They are:
1. The point of the Tzaddik – All of a person’s speech and deeds must be in accordance with the path and advice of the Tzaddik.
2.The point of the friend – A person must receive advice and encouragement regarding service of Hashem from another person, according to his ability.
3. The point of oneself – A person must endeavor to draw closer to Hashem and to serve Him, mainly through hitbodedut, addressing Hashem in one’s own words.
The notion of “the point of the friend” is that anyone is able, in his own way and according to his deeds, to receive from his friend the correct advice that will lead him to receive the point of the Tzaddik, and thereby, to progress in his service of Hashem. Note that a “friend” can also be someone on a lower level, in terms of knowledge, deeds, status, etc.
Reb Noson writes in Likutey Halachot, Hilchot Nesi’at Kapayim, 5, that in the merit of people talking with their friends about spiritual matters and receiving good advice one from the other, Hashem fulfills all their hearts’ desires and illuminates His Countenance to them with love!
This wonderful statement has given us at BRI the desire to launch our new study partner project “The Point of the Friend – From One to the Other.” From today, you can start learning b’chavruta in any of Rebbe Nachman’s works that were published by BRI. We will make an effort to match you with the study partner who is best for you. In this way, you’ll be able to receive from the “point of the friend” and together to become more spiritually attuned. It will also contribute to a consistent learning schedule, so that you can merit to complete all of the Rebbe’s works and know them well.
In the merit of people talking with their friends about spiritual matters and receiving good advice one from the other, Hashem fulfills all their hearts’ desires!
With Hashem’s help, in the coming weeks, we will process your requests and match up study partners. This project is intended for both men and women, with men studying with men and women studying with women.
The Talmud states that one of the reasons that Tu B’Av was designated as a Yom Tov is because in this time, the days start getting shorter and the nights longer, meaning that we steadily gain more spare time that we can use for Torah study.
Don’t miss out on this amazing opportunity! Join the project now so that by Rosh HaShanah you will have greater knowledge in Rebbe Nachman’s works.
