The Way to the Land

Rebbe Nachman of Breslov taught…

Know that faith, miracles, prayer and the Land of Israel are all a single, organic whole. The Land of Israel is the place where faith, miracles and prayer reach their highest expression.
(Likutey Moharan I:7)

What does this mean to me?
Just a few weeks ago, I heard the President of the Unites States—visiting in my hometown, Jerusalem—quote a famous Israeli political figure: “In Israel, to be a realist, you must believe in miracles.” Even though we aren’t living in the age of open miracles, and even though the modern state of Israel is far, far from fulfilling its spiritual potential, nevertheless the way to this point has been paved by miracles that only the most obtuse observer would deny. Rebbe Nachman stressed that miracles not only happen here, but that they are the essential nature of the place. And when we increase our faith and trust in the One who performs these miracles, we will discover that He provides more of them; when we learn to pray for them, we will find ourselves on the way to redemption.

A prayer:

Loving G-d, may I be worthy
Of being in the holy Land of Israel
Which You chose and gave to us.

Because we turned away from You
We were sent into exile.

So please strengthen our faith,
Particularly in the miracles
Which are always with us.

Let us realize that everything
Is under Your control.

Because of our faith,
Bring us to Your Holy Land.
And let us see the Final Redemption
With the coming of Moshiach.

.
