Rebbe Nachman of Breslov taught…

Reb Nosson wrote: “This is the way a Jew must travel, whether he goes far or near, even within his own city… His intention should be to make money in order to be able to give charity… When he goes out, he should go with the hope of meeting someone with whom he can speak about the tachlis, the true purpose of life, and with whom he can share the novel Torah concepts of the true tzaddikim…”
(Healing Leaves, p. 89)

What does this mean to me?

Rebbe Nachman taught that when a Jew has the opportunity to travel, he should take it. Who knows what spiritual rectifications he can make when reciting a blessing or a prayer in a new place? Who knows just whom he might meet, and what good might come of that meeting? Who can say what inspiration he might find in that place, or whom he might manage to inspire? Reb Nosson also encourages us to view our lives as adventures of spiritual potential. Wherever G-d sends us, it is surely for a purpose!

A prayer:

Architect of the world,
Author of her story,
grant me the courage to participate
in the world’s design,
to join in the unfolding of her story.
How I want to share
in the responsibility of this world—
to pray for her welfare, to care for her needs,
to safeguard her treasures,
to work for her rectification.

Feedback:

Thank you for sharing this poweful divar torah and prayer. Who needs to spend money on touring when G-d’s beauty and perfection can be found wherever we are? What a relief, what an opportunity!
