What Are You Willing to Give?

This week’s parshah is Terumah. It speaks about building a Mishkan, a sanctuary where one can approach HaShem and serve Him.

It all depends on one’s sacrifice to HaShem.

HaShem said: “They should donate to Me for the Sanctuary.” What is needed? Gold, silver, copper, skins of various animals, oil, spices, some precious stones, and so on. Notice that there are various items, for not everyone has gold or precious stones.

A sacrifice can be large or small—it depends on the person. But sacrifices must be made in order to bring HaShem into our lives. The entire Jewish nation accomplished this, each bringing or doing what they could to build the Mishkan.

The same applies today. According to the amount of effort we invest in desiring to recognize and serve HaShem, so too, accordingly, will we merit a glimpse of HaShem in our lives.

We must believe He is here with us—at all times and in all places. He is always engineering events in our lives—our relationships, children, businesses, work, etc. The extent to which we sacrifice and strive to recognize His place in our lives will determine how much we merit to experience His revelation.

Our connection to Him depends on our faith and our prayers. The more we believe in Him, the greater our ability to pray to Him. The greater the effort we make to pray to Him, the more we will experience a revelation of Him.

All it takes is a little sacrifice on our part. All it takes is an effort on our behalf to be willing to experience Him.

Have a great Shabbos!
