Why: “Remove His glory from the other nations?”

Question: “How come Moshe asks G-d to remove His glory from the other nations as a way of singleing out Israe’s unique character?
Isn’t it better for other nations to have a greater connection to G-D?”

Answer:

Shalom G!

As I understand the Rashbam (on Exodus 33:16), Moshe Rabbeinu’s request is not only Jews vis-a-vis Nations of the World, but also Moshe Rabbeinu vis-a-vis the Jewish people. The point of the requests is that the other should recognize that they/he is a is Gd’s servant and messenger/teacher/representative to mankind. As such, the “student” nation/person will have access to greater closeness to God by following the teacher’s instruction and example.

Hope this helped. It’s a great question.
