My Post High-Holidays Strategy

This year, I am determined to NOT let procrastination or self-sabotage get in my way. Here is my Post High-Holidays Strategy!

And… it’s a wrap! Seuda marathon is ovaaa! These are not my words actually, my good friend Michal wrote me this right after chag was over, LOL. She pretty much nailed it don’t you think?

Getting back to routine life, this year I have a lot of projects going for the next six months and beyond. Quite frankly, I have never had so many significant goals on my list. This year, I am determined to NOT let procrastination or self-sabotage get in my way. It is over & out with that! More on this in another article.

Today, I want to share with you what I am doing post high-holiday season to prepare the ground so to speak, in order to get done the best job possible with my goals and projects.  Whether you have big goals and aspirations for this coming year or a more chilled list of to-dos, I’m sure you’d also like to move forward in a most effective way. I truly hope you’ll find some of the below helpful.

I am taking the next week to do the following:

  1. Better utilizing my power of focusing

The ability to focus is actually a lot more powerful than most people understand. Rabbi Itamar Shwartz writes in Getting to Know Your Soul, that it is one of the soul’s inner powers. I have definitely noticed without a doubt that whatever I focus on does materialize more in my life, in one form or another, than the things that I do not focus on or that I focus less on. I do have a problem with staying consistent in my focusing and I know that I need more information and inspiration in this area. So, I just ordered Rabbi Shwartz’s book Tikkun Koach HaRikuz in Hebrew, which I would translate loosely as Fixing the Power of Focus. And I also purchased on Audible The Power of Focusing by Ann Cornell, recommended by a friend. I’m hoping that reading these two books will take me up a notch or two in my ability to focus.

Whatever I focus on does materialize more in my life, in one form or another, than the things that I do not focus on or that I focus less on!

  1. Decluttering the house

I did do a pre-chagim declutter however it wasn’t complete plus there is post chagim overflow that needs to be handled. Living and working in a space that is decluttered, organized and that makes you feel calm is a game changer. There is no doubt that it vastly improves your clarity of thinking, ability to focus and your energy levels. Definitely worth the effort!

  1. Post-chagim detox

Much as I tried to stick to my clean eating regimen over chag, the festive meals carousel definitely impacted my weight and energy. So, I am doing a post chagim detox for the next ten days or so, followed by a fall clean eating regimen through Chanukah. My post chagim detox plan is as follows:

6:30 am          walk or exercise

8:00 am          lemon water and probiotic drink

11:00 am       green smoothie

1:00 pm          green salad or fruit salad

6:00 pm          variations of the detox bowl

Detox bowl example 1:

Greens

Avocado

Olives

Tomatoes

Purple onion

Sprouts

Steamed broccoli

Salmon

Tahini dressing

Detox bowl example 2:

Greens

Avocado

Steamed mushrooms

Peppers

Green onions

Sprouts

Grated beets

Fermented sauerkraut

Grilled chicken

Vinaigrette dressing

7:00 pm Detox Tea or Skinny Tea

When your body, especially your organs of elimination and specifically the colon, are clean as opposed to constipated and backed up, clarity of mind, mood and energy are all elevated.

All of the above will catapult me into high gear mode, which is exactly what I need in order to be as productive as possible and do my very best to accomplish my goals and aspirations. I hope some of this has been helpful to you. Remember that the way you begin something has a lot to do with the way you finish it.
