Reb Nosson wrote: “Each day G-d receives fresh delight from every single Jew and from each and every part of every Jew, and as a consequence of this, He renews the creation every day… Know, therefore, and believe without a doubt that G-d likewise receives delight from you, specifically, each and every day and that this delight that you give Him helps perpetuate the world’s existence. Through this you will experience an abundance of favor, blessing, life, peace and good, each and every day.” |
| What does this mean to me? |
| The Jewish nation is not a conglomeration of disparate individuals, but rather a single organic whole that functions (ideally!) as a unified organism, all of its unique parts working in harmony within a greater whole. When we think of the Jewish people as a single body, we realize that there is no disadvantage in diversity; on the contrary, the only way in which the body fulfills all of its functions is by all of its different parts working together as a whole. Individual Jews are unique, and G-d delights in the unique way in which each of us can reveal holiness in the world. When we actively work to reveal G-dliness in the world—in our own individual ways—we prove that the plurality we see is only a means of demonstrating the beauty and greatness of the one source from which it all derives. This is the delight that G-d takes in us, in our “each and every part”—every bit of us is a fresh lens through which G-d Himself can be apprehended. |
